XCEL Program

UGA Xcel Program

At United Gymnastics Academy we are proud to offer an exceptional Xcel Program that provides our athletes an opportunity to compete within the sport outside of the traditional Junior Olympic program. Our Xcel program focuses on individual development within the sport aligned with each athlete’s skill level. Each athlete receives foundational skills, strength, flexibility, technique, and discipline to achieve their goals and prepares them to advance to higher levels within the sport.

What is the Xcel Program?

The Xcel Program is a gymnastics program designed and sanctioned by USA Gymnastics, the governing body of gymnastics in the United States. USAG defines the Xcel Program as "a broad-based, affordable competitive experience outside the traditional Junior Olympic Program to attract and retain a diverse group of athletes." USA Gymnastics wanted to provide an alternative to the Junior Olympic Program where recreational gymnasts could continue their participation in gymnastics in a team setting and have the opportunity to compete with less cost and time commitment in the gym. There are currently 5 levels in the Xcel Program; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and, Diamond.

United Gymnastics Academy holds tryouts for gymnasts aged 6 and older who have never been a part of the Xcel Team each Summer. Details regarding Xcel Team tryouts will be posted on our Team News page and all social media sources closer to that time of year. What is the time commitment?

Our Xcel team practices 2 days a week between 2.5-4 hours (based by level) each day and is considered a year round program. Gymnasts will compete in approximately 6 regular season meets with the goal of qualifying to compete at the State & Regional level. Practices and competitions are decided by the program and team directors.
